1989? Perhaps that was the year I first played Blood Bowl. I remember the cardboard characters, the Ogres throwing Gobos and playing against Dwarves? Was that it? It was totally Warhammer Fantasy Battle with a ball - and it was awesome.
In a few years the plastic version was released and I made enough money painting other peoples teams to build my 40k imperial guard army - but that's another story entirely.
I was always disappointed there wasn't a 40k version, but watching the video now i recall the background. i thought it was wfb, sounded like wfb but with jokes - turns out it was a different universe that borrowed the rule system. Anyway, watch the video.

Games Workshop Reveal Another New Bloodbowl Star Player
Dark Elf star player Jeremiah Kool is returning to a Blood Bowl pitch near you.
Due for release later in the year, this fondly remembered MVP of old is getting the Forge World treatment. He can be hired by dark elf and elf teams, and sports the signature move Flashing Blade.
